Digital River Receives the Governor’s International Trade Award
Award honors Minnesota organizations and individuals that excel in the international marketplace
MINNEAPOLIS, May 25, 2007— Digital River, Inc. (NASDAQ: DRIV), a leading provider of global e-commerce solutions, today announced it was named an award recipient of the Governor’s International Trade Award. The award was presented by First Lady Mary Pawlenty to Joel Ronning, Digital River’s CEO, on May 25th at a luncheon held during the Governor’s Global Trade Conference.
The Governor’s International Trade Award honors Minnesota companies, organizations or individuals that have excelled in the international marketplace. The award highlights the crucial role that exporting plays in Minnesota’s economy and recognizes the recipient’s efforts to expand and promote the state’s exports.
“We are honored to be recognized by the state for our contributions in the international marketplace,” said Joel Ronning, Digital River’s founder and CEO. “Global expansion is a strategic area of focus for our organization as we help companies from around the world conduct e-commerce on an international basis. With sales from international markets now beginning to approach half of Digital River’s revenues, we are excited to see our business grow on a truly global scale.”
“Foreign sales help preserve good jobs here at home for thousands of workers and are an important building block in our economy,” said Tony Lorusso, director of the Minnesota Trade Office, the state’s official export promotion arm. “Minnesota companies exported more than $24 billion in manufactured goods, services and agricultural commodities to international markets last year. The Governor’s International Trade Award is a way for the state to recognize and honor those contributions.”
The Governor’s Global Trade Conference is held in conjunction with Minnesota World Trade Week, an annual event organized by the Minnesota Trade Office to acknowledge and celebrate the importance of international trade to the state’s economy. The Minnesota Trade Office and its many partners organize a variety of export promotion and training events to assist Minnesota companies in preparing for and effectively competing in the international market.
