Digital River Announces Multiple Platform Support for SoftwarePassport
Extends its digital revenue management technology to the Java, Linux, Macintosh and UNIX operating systems
MINNEAPOLIS, March 21, 2005-- Digital River, Inc. (NASDAQ: DRIV), a global leader in e-commerce outsourcing, today announced its plans to expand support for its SoftwarePassport technology beyond the Windows® operating systems to include the Java, Linux® , Macintosh® and UNIX® operating systems. With its multi-platform capabilities, Digital River's software publishing clients will find even broader protection for their global online transactions and more licensing options for their consumer and enterprise customers. With its sophisticated marketing and licensing capabilities, SoftwarePassport is designed to enable publishers to not only protect their software, but also market, sell, distribute and track their digital assets across untapped, global online markets.
To support SoftwarePassport's expanded capabilities, Digital River expects to integrate with SafeNet's Sentinel LM, a software-based license management technology. By working with SafeNet, a global leader in information security, Digital River will be able to extend its existing functionality by metering the number of software licenses generated, activated and delivered to a user across an expanded set of software platforms. The multiple platform version of SoftwarePassport is scheduled for release during the spring of 2005.
We always are looking for new, more effective ways to help our clients generate business in global online markets while at the same time minimizing their costs and risks, said Joel Ronning, Digital River's CEO. The upcoming release of SoftwarePassport and our use of SafeNet's Sentinel LM will enable us to not only open up the architecture to accommodate a broader range of client needs, but also provide them greater flexibility in their license management options. Moving forward, we will continue to look for new partnership opportunities that allow us to further expand our SoftwarePassport technology and deliver increasing levels of technology sophistication to our clients.
Digital River is an established leader in e-commerce outsourcing with a robust delivery infrastructure that is well respected in the software industry, said Prakash Panjwani, SafeNet's vice president and general manager of the rights management business unit. By working together, we believe we can provide the company's software publishing clients with an online delivery solution designed to provide increased piracy protection and several new licensing options for increased revenue. Our joint solution will allow software publishers to concentrate on their core competencies - creating valuable software - while leaving electronic commerce and online protection to the expertise of companies such as Digital River and SafeNet.
