• This three- to six-hour E-Learning course is designed to give learners an overview of the new features and functionality enhancements in Crystal Reports 2008.


• The new features and functionality improvements include advanced information visualization, improved end-user report viewing experience, enhanced report designer productivity, new flexible deployment options, and flexible application integration – as well as the changes to certain components of Crystal Reports.


• The business benefit of this course is that learners will be able to describe and use the new features of Crystal Reports 2008.

• Advanced information visualization – Describe and use Adobe Flash in Crystal Reports. Describe the integration with Xcelsius and describe the integration with Adobe Flex applications.


• Improved report viewing experience – Describe and use interactive parameters, describe how multilingual support affects report design, describe the prompting improvements, describe the viewer improvements, describe how report designer add-ins work, describe and use the set data source location feature for universes and describe the web pagination improvements.


• Improved report designer productivity – Describe the added functionality when using barcodes in Crystal Reports, describe and use calculated members in a crosstab, describe the improvements in hyper-linking and describe and use sort controls.


• Flexible deployment options – Describe how to save a report to crystalreports.com, describe and use XML exporting, and describe the advanced report publishing options.


• Flexible application integration – Describe how salesforce.com data is integrated with Crystal Reports 2008 and describe and use Web services.


• Changes to Crystal Reports 2008 components – Describe what's different in Crystal Reports 2008 from the previous lesson.

• Processor: Minimum 400 MHz processor, recommended: Pentium IV 1.6 GHz


• RAM: 256 MB RAM minimum, 512 MB RAM recommended


• Sound: 16-bit sound card, with speakers or a headset (optional)


• Screen resolution: 1024 by 768 (minimum)

Minimum User Desktop Software Requirements

• Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP or Microsoft Vista.


• Browser: Internet Explorer (IE) version 6 or higher, with JavaScript support in the browser configuration (see Note below)


• Required plug-ins:
• Courses require Flash 9 subversion 115 or above plug-in in order to function.(see Note below)
• If Flash is not pre-installed on the computer it may be obtained for free at: http://www.macromedia.com/downloads
• For web assessments, the Java plug-in JRE 1.31_03 or higher is required
• If JRE is not pre-installed on the computer it may be obtained for free at: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html
• Acrobat PDF Reader
• If Acrobat PDF Reader is not installed on the computer it may be obtained free at: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
• Pop-up Blockers: Must be disabled in order to view the course content properly.

Note: Later versions of Flash and IE are available. These updated releases have introduced new security changes that may affect the performance of certain features in the courses. If you are using a later release of these software components and encounter problems, we request that you identify the problems and report them to SAP as soon as possible.

Connectivity Requirements

• Minimum Connection speed: 128 kbps, DSL. (We recommend at least 128k for high quality performance. While the course will function even at dialup speeds, due to the multimedia nature of the materials, serious performance degradation may occur.)
