Mega Man® Franchise

The creation of Mega Man® in 1987 introduced the Blue Bomber to the world and created a fan base for 15 years. The success has established Mega Man as Capcom's official Mascot, and seen the launch of a dozen titles across multiple platforms.

With more than 20 million units sold worldwide, the strength of the franchise can also be measured by the volumes of fan art, licensed toys and merchandise. The Mega Man also holds the record as being the longest running animated television series based on a video game character. Mega Man went 3D in September 1998 in Mega Man Legends when our hero appears in fully rendered environments for the first time ever.

Street Fighter® Franchise

In 1987, Capcom introduced the Street Fighter® and ignited the fighting game genre. The release of Street Fighter® II in 1991 marked the beginning of a new mass-market video game phenomenon. Celebrating a 15 year anniversary, the entire line Street Fighter series has sold more than 500,000 coin-operated units and more than 24 million console games worldwide and generated more than a billion dollars in revenue. Street Fighter fuelled new innovations and creativity to make fighting games one of the most popular categories in video games to this day.

Worldwide more than 100 licensing deals have been secured, bringing Street Fighter characters to a variety of diverse consumer markets, including apparel, the action-toy market, book publishing, the home video market, and an animated cartoon series. In December 1994, Street Fighter was made into a full-length feature film, grossing more than $100 million worldwide.

Resident Evil® Franchise

The release of Resident Evil® in 1996 marked yet another franchise benchmark. A product that defies easy comparison, Resident Evil instantly established a whole new category of gaming - the survival horror genre - and inspired a new wave of Resident Evil-like products.

The US release of Resident Evil® 2 in 1998 broke industry records by selling more than 380,000 units in its debut weekend and grossing more than $19 million dollars. Capcom released Resident Evil® 3 Nemesis, its next chapter to its multi-million dollar Resident Evil franchise, in November 1999. The game quickly made its way to the top of the charts and became a top seller during the holiday shopping season. Resident Evil 2 for the Nintendo 64™ became the largest Nintendo cartridge ever produced for the N64. Resident Evil® Code: Veronica, the highly anticipated game for Sega Dreamcast™ game console, released in March 2000. Resident Evil® Outbreak, featuring online and single player offline play, continues the dramatic story of an outbreak caused by a biological weapon infecting the people in Raccoon City. Resident Evil® 4 released for the GameCube™ in January 2005 and in October 2005 for the PlayStation® 2 computer entertainment system. The game quickly achieved critical acclaim around the world and garnered multiple “Game of the Year” accolades from numerous esteemed outlets.

To date, the Resident Evil series of products has sold more than 27 million units worldwide. The franchise of Resident Evil alone is worth more than $600 million worldwide. Capcom has signed deals for the creation of several Resident Evil movies, a line of action figures, and a series of comic books.

Onimusha® Franchise

Onimusha® is an epic saga of 16th century Japan when warlords launch attacks against one another and fight battles in the name of power. Onimusha®: Warlords launched in 2000 as one of the most technically advanced video games ever conceived for the PlayStation® 2 computer entertainment system. The game received SIGGRAPH 2000 Computer Animation Festival Best of Show award for its technical achievements for creating the opening movie and its use of an optical motion capture system to capture six samurais battling simultaneously.

Other motion picture quality production values include the script written by Flagship, the company who penned the story lines for the Resident Evil series; a 200-piece orchestra who performs the original musical score; and famed Japanese actor Takeshi Kaneshiro as the lead character. Finely detailed character graphics created at 10,000 polygons per character delivered realistic emotion and character animation. The epic saga continues in Genma Onimusha®, Onimusha® 3: Demon Siege and the 2006 release of Onimusha®: Dawn of Dreams.
