Welcome to the Wireless Economy

It wasn't long ago that most of Wall Street had completely written-off wireless and telecom stocks for dead. But while many analysts didn't see the potential of this booming industry. But here at Forbes Wireless Stock Watch, we aren't fickle. We did see it and we continue to see great investment opportunities.

Right now we have a once in a lifetime opportunity to pick up exciting growth stocks at incredible values. After all, walk into a hotel lobby, a park or even a Starbucks or McDonald's and you can open up a laptop and log onto the Web - without any wires. Our streets are filled with commuters conversing on cellular telephones. And now, faster wireless networks such as WiMAX are in the early days of deployment and exciting new applications, such as mobile TV, are becoming realities. In short the WIRELESS REVOLUTION is here, yet the stocks of important companies continue to trade at significant discounts.

Forbes Wireless Stock Watch seized this opportunity and began advising investors to buy a select group of wireless and telecom stocks. The result? Sierra Wireless gained 180%, Proxim 212%, Ceragon Networks 240% and Qualcomm is up 140%..

For example, in July 2005, Forbes Wireless Stock Watch said it was time to buy shares of Leap Wireless, a company that the Editor, Nikhil Hutheesing, had been closely watching for years. In a report entitled “Jiminy Cricket! Leap is Back” Forbes Wireless Stock Watch explained that Leap, a company that was spun out of Qualcomm in 1998 and eventually went into bankruptcy, was back on solid ground. It owned dozens of wireless licenses was acquiring spectrum and was gaining market share by offering a low-cost service. Hutheesing said to buy Leap. Good thing: The stock is up more than 157% since Hutheesing’s buy recommendation.

Earlier, Forbes Wireless Stock Watch let its readers in on the hidden values of a sleepy upstate New York company called Warwick Valley Telephone. Editor Nikhil Hutheesing dug through the financials and valued a little-known cellular partnership it owned at over $100 million. We recommended the stock at $52 per share and sold it one year later at $80.

Forbes Wireless Stock Watch's Three Golden Rules for Building Your New Wireless Wealth:

  • Golden Rule #1: Buy companies that are building the infrastructure of the wireless economy. Here's why. By owning the companies that control the transceivers, base stations and transmission towers now, you will place yourself in the enviable position of being a "toll collector" of the wireless economy and grow richer with every wireless phone call, email, page, instant message, and more.

  • Golden Rule #2: Buy companies that are growing their customer base 15% to 20% every quarter. The reason: With thousands of wireless companies slugging it out to build their brand name and establish their technology, companies that can dominate their market and build market share will win the battle for customers and profits.

  • Golden Rule #3: Buy companies that reap huge profits from licensing their wireless technologies. You see, owning these companies is like owning the rights to a hit song you wrote once-yet get paid not only every time you sell a CD but also every time your song is played on the radio.

Here's what Steve Forbes has to say
about Wireless:

“Investing now in the right wireless stocks is the best way I know to double or triple your money over the next few years, regardless of the day-to-day ups and downs of the stock market. Now is the time to buy into the boom in wireless—from multimedia messaging and mobile games to the explosion of digital TV being broadcast directly to your cell phone. Imagine . . . mobile television. Watch TV wherever you are! It’ll start to happen in 2007.”
